Our client is seeking a full-time Medical Coding & Billing Specialist to join their team in the mental/behavioral health space. The ideal candidate will have previous healthcare experience, specific to coding (preferably in the mental and behavioral health space), as well as billing (electronic remits) and overall experience with the healthcare revenue cycle.

The position will start fully on site for training for the first few months, and then move to a hybrid schedule (on site 2x/week, with Wednesday as an anchor day). This is a long term, contract to hire opportunity. We are only accepting local candidates at this time.

Duties

The Medical Coding & Billing Specialist position plays an integral part of the business office requiring strong professional office skills held to firm standards of confidentiality. The initial part of this role will focus primarily on coding, so that skill set will be required for this role (preference given to coding experience in mental/behavioral health space).

CODING

Work with coding in mental health setting (prevention clinic) using CDC codes for certain providers
Determine what can be charged and what documentation is needed
Follow-up on documentation and file accordingly to push through process

BILLING

Process remits (primarily electronically)
Assist the team through the healthcare revenue cycle; coding, billing, claims
Manage electronic and physical documentation and files
Check eligibility and follow-up on needed/missing information
Help support the team as needed with other duties and daily administrative tasks

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED Required; some College preferred
Medical Coding Certificate required (or equivalent experience)
1-3+ years of coding experience in healthcare setting (seasoned coder is ideal)
Experience in the mental health space is highly preferred (coding and billing)
Working experience filing electronic remits is highly desired
Proficient+ in MS Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word)
Working experience with NextGen (bonus!) or other electronic health records software
High attention to detail and accuracy
Reliable and committed
Ability to train fully on site for first 1-2 months (hybrid schedule following; up to 3 days/week work from home)

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 1st shift hours (8am-4:30pm)
