HR Manager

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced HR professional to join their team as an HR Manager. The position will work with the Manufacturing Group and serve as an HRBP support to the Plant Manager. The scope of the role includes employee relations, employee engagement, safety, recruitment, compensation, and legal compliance while supporting HR programs in order to ensure adherence to company policies and government regulations

This is a DIRECT HIRE position, and is fully on-site. Only local candidates will be considered at this time.

Duties

HR Business Partnering:

  • As a key member of the location’s leadership team, provide direction on topics such as staffing, ethics, safety, employee relations and morale that set the tone for the facility.
  • Partners and provides advice and counsel on employee relations and performance issues.
  • Counsel and advise managers and employees in the manufacturing organization on confidential or sensitive personnel problems, participates in disciplinary action and suggests or mediates equitable actions and solutions, maintains an awareness of potential employee concerns and develops preventative action.
  • Works collaboratively to create and maintain positive employee relations and resolves conflicts in an effective manner.
  • Foster a climate of teamwork and motivation within the team by encouraging professional development and growth of employees (assessment, training, coaching and mentoring).
  • Support the business needs by creating and monitoring the local metrics and objectives.
  • Manage the budget: creating and updating the costs and responsible for control of the HR budget.
  • Assist in other Human Resources functions and activities as requested and conduct special studies and projects as required.
  • Works with local team to deploy HR initiatives (performance enablement, training, etc.).


HR Practices & Policies:

  • Reviews, recommends, establishes and implements improved operating policies and procedures for the facility and ensures communication and coordination of Human Resource programs to line management and employees.
  • Ensures compliance with government requirements and the maintenance of accurate company and EE records, related to employee safety, Workers Compensation, OSHA, Company Affirmative Action Plan: discrimination, and equal employment opportunity. Interprets and administers company policies and procedures in a consistent manner.
  • Provides benefit updates and supports annual open enrollment locally.
  • Manages unemployment claims in conjunction with third-party administrators.
  • Responsible to keep abreast of changes in regulations, laws, practices, and developments related to economic and labor trends, safety, working environment, employee relations, and attitudes.
  • Audits payroll for local employees.
  • Supports ISO procedures as related to HR.


Staffing & Recruitment:

  • Partners with managers on assessing talent and making hiring and pay decisions.
  • Coordinates with management and staffing agencies to fulfill hourly staffing needs.
  • Works with the local HR team to manage the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.


Performance Enablement and Compensation Planning:

  • Supports the annual compensation planning process for salaried employees partnering with local leadership to make recommendations and ensure alignment.
  • Promotes and supports the salaried performance enablement program (COACH).
  • Manages, monitors and authorizes the local hourly wage system, annual review process, and annual merit increase process.
  • Quarterly calculation and payment of the hourly production bonus.


Communication & Employee Engagement:

  • Works with local leadership to promote and integrate the core values.
  • Ensures corporate communications reach employees at the local level via postings & huddles.
  • Responsible for the promotion of the Employee Engagement Survey and action planning process.
  • Ensures onsite engagement activities to foster a positive atmosphere.
  • Conducts and may develop training on various topics (i.e. harassment, respectful workplace, ethics, interviewing, managing for performance, etc.).


Environmental, Health & Safety:

  • Partners with EHS and supports the enforcement safety rules and OSHA compliance.
  • Oversees the management of workers compensation cases to closure including leaves of absence and settlements.
  • Performs contract tracing and manages leaves related to COVID.


Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of HR Generalist / Business Partner experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in an HR Manager role.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and/or non-union environment preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with and establish trust at all levels.
  • Written and verbal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented along with the organizational and prioritization skills necessary to balance and complete multiple work assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws including Title VII, EEOC, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and FLSA.
  • Computer literacy in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Solid judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and work independently in a professional and tactful manner.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (emphasis in Human Resources or related field preferred).
  • HR certification and/or higher-level education preferred.
