Department Specialist II

Hopkins, MN

Humera is looking for a Department Specialist II for our client in Hopkins, MN. Do you have a degree in a scientific field, a background in food production and understand quality assurance principles? We would love to meet you!


  • Oversee by assembling weekly samples, tracking progress, communicating with vendor and downloading images for customers
  • Manage all packages (receiving and sending) including quarterly shipments of new items to key customers
  • Coordinate and organize incoming and outgoing product samples, working directly with suppliers, supply chain, brand marketing, and PDQA. This includes new product development or quality samples, customer requests, and competitive analysis
  • Coordinate, prepare, and contribute to product cuttings with PDQA and Brand Marketing teams
  • Facilitate product quality maintenance initiatives across brands portfolio (post launch)
  • Assist Culinary Manager with execution of customer visits and various company events, including cleaning and maintaining Test Kitchen in accordance with the guidelines of the local Health department
  • Support management of quality and technical inquiries for brands, including sources from 3rd party call center, brands websites, brands email, social media, sales, and direct customers
  • Support Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) submissions and compliancy efforts in partnership with Brands Sales, fulfill state WIC requests, and maintain WIC-compliant database
  • Partner with the Sales Team for tradeshow preparation, set up and execution as needed
  • Support QA Compliance Manager with federal and state compliance initiatives and programs
  • Provide technical support at key customer-interfacing opportunities
  • Other applicable duties as assigned by supervisor


  • Personally-motivated and acts with a sense of urgency with a high level of attention to detail
  • Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities and innovative with solutions
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skill
Required Skill Sets
  • Associate degree in related field is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field is preferred
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation such as product specifications, SOPs, and sensory evaluations
  • General knowledge of GMPs, quality assurance principles, and food production
Desired Skill Sets
  • 1+ years of quality assurance, regulatory, manufacturing, or laboratory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field
